After the trip by the flat Kaisut desert and if it goes against Marsabit, the road up to a height of 1000 m begins to rise. Marsabit is a pleasant place. A mountain oasis in a region with Vulkankratern and evergreen mountain-slopes. It is a small city, the administrative city for the largest district from Kenya is. Into and around Marsabit live the Boran, Gabbra, Rendille and Somali. One can explore the environment of Marsabit to foot. The crater gulf Redo is appropriate for approximately 5 km behind the city between the roads after North Horr and Moyale. It is numerous animals beheimaten. Singing Wels of Ulanula (singing well) is appropriate for 6 km toward the south. Singing comes from the boron on herdsmen those the wells uses. The Marsabit national park with his dense forest and the two crater lakes is to be come for tourists naturally the principal reason to Marsabit. In it a great many elephants and Kaffernbüffel live. Since the conditions for these large animals are very good, them, in order to become not troubles for Marsabit, adjusting ausgewildert. |

Arrived at Marsabit to 17. 06. 05 I looked for myself in the afternoon a hotel. The first hotel, where I took quarter, appeared to me the correct to be not whole. A student likewise from Moyale came, recommended to me another hotel. The Nomad hotel was a good decision. In the new hotel there was a Verständigungsschwierikeit, since nobody spoke Suaheli. The hotel leader got itself a translator. |

I tell however only, because this translator was the son of the leader for Kamelsafaris, already specified. He wanted to come naturally directly with me into the business. We inquired with a local resident haulage contractor, who had a rough-terrain vehicle, about the price for a trip after Loyangalani on the eastern bank of the Turkanasees. The price should amount to 500 dollar. I believe with these bad distances am also correct such a price. To the island cent ral Iceland I would have had to carry a boat trip to it again alone. My means were unfortunately limited, because I had to keep still for unforeseeable events a reserve. My annoyance on the decision, which I had made in Kalokol, was just as large as on the Safariveranstalter in Nairobi. I did not have, there I to always through-ask oneself wanted for the young man use, promised him however its Internet address in my report to publish. I was nearly a whole week in Marsabit, but there was no direct riding along opportunity after Loyangalani. To North Horr, that is approximately the half distance, it possible would have been. All, with which I spoke, were sceptically for getting ahead of North Horr and therefore discharged I of the project. |

My next goal was the national park of Marsabit. The entrance is been appropriate for something off the city. After approximately half of the way the bank lies of Marsabit rather lonely. I exchanged and know two times there money that relatively many conversions are transacted there. In Germany the bank determines a secret tip for Ganoven be. At the entrance of the national park was a Ranger, which wanted to help me on the next day. On the next morning first a giant-large surprise came. At Marsabit two travelers, a young woman from France and her partner, a Spaniard, arrived. For me the first white tourists in the north of Kenya. Those had to naturally look at myself I. I went immediately to the bus station, where the two adventurers had left to only perform in order the necessary business the bus. They told me that they over Morocco and Ethiopia came into Moyale over the border and with the bus from Moyale equal further to Nairobi to drive on wanted. From there it should continue then until South Africa etappenweise. They had taken into account at least one quarter for the journey. I ask myself only for which as much time am used, if one the half of Kenya, to which the north grants, not times a view. |

I shifted the visit in the national park on the next day, because me not completely probably was. A Infekt, which made to create me in Germany and an easily increased temperature gave to me steadily, was the cause. In Germany, with the correct antibiotic, later everything was again good. On my journey I took an antibiotic, which did not show effect however against the creeping Infekt to the protection from malaria. On the following day the "world" looked again differently and I could to the national park break open. The ascent begins in direct proximity of the bank in Marsabit. To Parkeingang I met a park Ranger living there. That called the Lodge at and after which I insured to eat there, promised one me to fetch. The park Ranger told to me still that it many elephants and still more buffalo gives that it is missing in the park at lions and it is therefore necessary animals into other reservations to convert. A vehicle came sometime from Marsabit and took themselves also to the Lodge. The way within the park looked so similar as in the picture of the approach road, only it is still many narrower. At a place our vehicle drove near completely left to the bushes and continued. I sat in the operator's cab left at the open window. The bushes divided and an elephant stretched its trunk for me nearly to the face. Mean camera, which was in a much to close bag, I had in the program with take out changed, so that I could not make a picture. |

The elephant had again disappeared after few seconds. Reason for the stop was however not the elephant, but the vehicle, which should fetch me from the gate. We continued driving to the Lodge, where one set me off. Still another one time for the meal was arranged and all people of the Lodge drove somewhere. There were no guests and it was, as I took out of the guest book, to find here lately rarely. I could look around completely alone the close environment of the Lodge. The only animals, which I had seen, were elephants. The constant fog made it necessary to get as closely as possible to it near to go around some useful pictures. |

The meal was not good particularly. It was however certainly because of the unusual situation that with me as a guest the everyday life was suddenly disturbed. After the meal the car was already available, which brought me to the Parktor. The trip was nevertheless a completely beautiful expensive affair. |

In the evening two tourists with the bus came from Isiolo. They stayed overnight in the hotel, where also I had used. Both were only four years younger than I. A German journalist and a Brazilian. In the evening with the beer they told me that they continue to drive on the next morning with the bus to Moyale, there about the border to Ethiopia to go and then further to Addis Abeba drive wanted. On the next morning an high-ranking policeman came and welcomed still the two Weltenbummler, before her to their drive on applied. To 22.06.05 I in the afternoon negotiated a trip after Nanyuki. This time it was a truck, which should load still sheep. I paid the driving costs before, so that the crew which to eat itself buy could. Loading outside Marsabit should take approximately three hours. Before it loose-went however, still two tires had to be changed. I schmiß mean backpack, in which I also mean camera had inserted, in the back into the operator's cab and waited in Marsabit at a gas station. All, with which I talked, found that also not bad. After however seven hours had passed and I made concerns for me in the evening at ten o'clock alone at the gas station, I slowly. After a further hour then a worker of the gas station came and meant, I was to go to the police. On the police station was one much forestalling. All road posts on the which are applicable distances were informed. A vehicle drove to the loading station, where the truck it will load should and returned short time after with a message pleasing for me. The truck had on the way had still two flat tyres. It lasted also not more for a long time and I could into the vehicle enter. The crew schmollte completely beautifully over it that I could suspect it as robbers. At night it was considerable cold and I regretted the two members of the crew on the roof rode along. All 50 km I was asked due to the search, which was no longer current, at the road blocks by the police whether also still everything is correct. The night trip was for the crew a very hard work, because we had four flat tyres. With two tires even new hoses had to be drawn in. I believe that European Fernfahrer would have gotten "large howling". |
